چکیده

In this paper the dynamic location problem with opening, closure and reopening of facilities is formulated and an efficient primal-dual heuristic that computes both upper and lower limits to its optimal solution is described. The problem here studied considers the possibility of reconfiguring any location more than once over the planning horizon. This problem is NP-hard (the simple plant location problem is a special case of the problem studied). A primal-dual heuristic based on the work of Erlenkotter [A dual-based procedure for uncapacitated facility location. Operations Research 1978;26:992–1009] andVanRoy and Erlenkotter [A dual-based procedure for dynamic facility location. Management Science 1982;28:1091–105] was developed and tested over a set of randomly generated test problems. The results obtained are quite good, both in terms of the quality of lower and upper bounds calculated as in terms of the computational time spent by the heuristic. A branch-and-bound procedure that enables to optimize the problem is also described and tested over the same set of randomly generated problems. 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A dynamic location problem with maximum decreasing capacities

In this paper a capacitated dynamic location problem with opening, closure and reopening of facilities is formulated and a primal-dual heuristic that can solve this problem is described. The problem formulated considers the situation where a facility is open (or reopens) with a certain maximum capacity that decreases as clients are assigned to that facility during its operating periods. This pr...

Dynamic multi-level capacitated and uncapacitated location problems: an approach using primal-dual heuristics

In this paper several dynamic multi-level location problems are formulated as mixed-integer linear programs. Both uncapacitated and capacitated versions of the problem are studied. The models presented are more complete than the ones known from the literature: they are dynamic and consider the possibility of a facility being open, closed and reopen more than once during the planning horizon. Th...

Primal-dual path-following algorithms for circular programming

Circular programming problems are a new class of convex optimization problems that include second-order cone programming problems as a special case. Alizadeh and Goldfarb [Math. Program. Ser. A 95 (2003) 3-51] introduced primal-dual path-following algorithms for solving second-order cone programming problems. In this paper, we generalize their work by using the machinery of Euclidean Jordan alg...

Dynamic Network Flow with Uncertain Arc Capacities: Decomposition Algorithm and Computational Results

In a multiperiod dynamic network flow problem, we model uncertain arc capacities using scenario aggregation. This model is so large that it may be difficult to obtain optimal integer or even continuous solutions. We develop a Lagrangian decomposition method based on the structure recently introduced in [9]. Our algorithm produces a near-optimal primal integral solution and an optimum solution t...

A Hybrid Meta-heuristic for the Dynamic Layout Problem with Transportation System Design

This paper primarily presents a comprehensive dynamic layout design model which integrates layout and transportation system design via considering more realistic assumptions, such as taking account of fixed-position departments and distance between departments that endanger each other. In addition, specific criteria such as capacity, cost and reliability of facilities are considered in transpor...
